it was so good to be back in madison. i was filled with happiness. i’m glad i got to spend all morning alone to take a long walk and just take my time.
breakfast: coffee with yummy ham and gruyere croissant @ batch bakehouse
breakfast #2: eating lazy jane’s orange coconut white chocolate scone (heavy) and drinking cafe latte @ colectivo coffee
late lunch: rigatoni with northern ragu and parmesan @ cento. not sure why they even bothered with this badly burnt toast. it’s just bad taste on many levels.
cafe latte @ bradbury’s
happy hour @ graze. this pickle board was “interesting.” why do they keep adding on tastes? when we see pickled daikon on the menu, we expect something simpler.
we walked over to the old fashioned for dinner. this was one of the best dishes i’ve had on this trip. it is beer battered cheese curds, ya’ll! ($6.95)
as you can see, this particular day was the most stuffed i was with food. i had planned to order something more adventurous at this restaurant than a simple chicken salad (plump door county cherries, buttermilk blue cheese and toasted almonds tossed with mixed greens and brandy vinaigrette with chicken $7.95+$2.95), but oh well. it wasn’t so simple, and the dried cherries were delicious.
this place is packed even on a weekday.
i was so full and super sick by this point, probably with a fever, too. so i could only have one glass of the old fashioned (plus a few beers) while my buddy had like 5 of them (plus several beers).
